Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art focused on positional control that leads to submission. Training emphasizes establishing strong positions, maintaining control, positional and submission escapes, and methodically advancing toward submissions. At Artisan, jiu-jitsu is taught systematically, with an emphasis on understanding how positions connect, how control is maintained, and how technical decisions on the mat lead to consistent outcomes.
No experience is required. Most students begin with no prior background. We offer a dedicated Fundamentals class every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:00–6:00pm, designed specifically for new students. These classes focus on foundational positions and techniques, including controlling and pinning opponents, executing escapes, and understanding how each position fits into a larger system. The goal is to build a clear framework so students understand not just what to do, but how and why everything works together.
